 DINING TRAINS 

Let the Mid-Norfolk Railway take you on an unforgettable journey hauled by a steam* locomotive through the beautiful Heart of Norfolk countryside while enjoying the very best of fine dining on the line.

 

We operate a number of different trains throughout the year to suit everyone's tastes and means: Cream Tea, High Tea, Fish & Chip and Gin trains.

Tickets purchased online or phone will be available to be collected on the day of travel from the ticket office or for a small charge they can be posted to you. Anyone with allergies and/or intolerances are advised to contact our catering team before booking through info@mnr.org.uk. For those who wish to book a group or a special charter train, should contact groups@mnr.org.uk.

THE BRECKLANDER
CREAM TEA TRAIN

Locally baked scones, clotted cream, fresh strawberries and tea, all served on fine Norfolk bone china during a scenic 11 mile journey through the Heart of Norfolk countryside. Indulge in a true British favourite, smartly served up on our steam* train.

 

The ticket price £24.50 includes food and drink served at your reserved seat aboard The Brecklander 3:45pm train service from Dereham and also allows you the freedom to experience the railway for a full day if you wish or to connect with the train on an earlier service from Wymondham Abbey.

Trains depart Dereham at 3:45pm on the following dates and booking is required to join.

  • July

    • Sundays 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
       

  • August

    • Sundays 15th, 22nd
       

  • September

    • Sundays 12th, 19th​

BRECKLAND FRYER
FISH & CHIPS TRAIN​

A perfect way to spend your summer evening, departing Dereham at 7pm to Wymondham Abbey returning back in Dereham by around 9:30pm, riding through the Heart of Norfolk Countryside behind a steam* locomotive, with freshly-made Fish & Chips delivered on-board from a local chip shop just before departure. We also able to offer sausage and vegetarian options.

 

The ticket price £25 includes the food and a chosen soft drink served at your reserved seat aboard the Breckland Fryer 7pm train service from Dereham. There is also an option to upgrade to include an alcoholic drink and to include a discounted daytime rover travel ticket.

Trains depart Dereham at 7pm on the following dates and booking is required to join.

  • Saturday 24th July

  • Saturday 14th August

  • Saturday 18th September

THE GIN TRAIN​

The Gin Train departs Dereham at TBC on Saturday 25th September and booking is required to join.

* Whilst every effort is made to ensure a steam locomotive is available for running the service, due to operational and maintenance reasons this may not always be possible and may be replaced with a diesel locomotive on the day. 

THE HEART OF NORFOLK
AFTERNOON HIGH TEA TRAIN

For steamy sophistication, on selected Saturdays this summer, come and join us on board our aptly named steam* train for a real nostalgic treat.

 

Fresh finger sandwiches, locally-baked scones and a selection of delicious cakes are all served up on elegant three-tier stands by smartly attired staff during the scenic 22 mile round trip journey through the Mid-Norfolk countryside. 

 

The ticket price of £32.50 includes food and drink served at your reserved seat aboard The Heart of Norfolk 3:45pm train service from Dereham and also allows you the freedom to experience the railway for a full day if you wish or to connect with the train on an earlier service from Wymondham Abbey. There is also an option to upgrade to include a glass of 'bubbly' for your table.
