The Mid-Norfolk Railway is available to hire to our Industry partners as well as to Groups, Charters, Filming and for Driver Experience.

 

The Mid-Norfolk Railway is keen to develop links with the Rail Industry and offers a number of opportunities in the East of England area.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway runs for 17 miles through the quiet Norfolk countryside. There are currently 15 miles of operational track with another mile to North Elmham and another mile to County School to be reinstated.

 

The main base of operations is at Dereham Station just off the main A47 cross-country road, where we have a road-rail facility. At the other end of the line is Wymondham where we have our main line connection with Network Rail for the Ely-Norwich line.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway has served a number of customers but presently has several major rail industry companies which use the line for a variety of testing, training, storage and maintenance purposes, these include: Sonic Rail Services, Abellio Greater Anglia, Direct Rail Services (DRS), Network Rail, DB Schenker (DBS), Balfour Beaty, RMS Locotec, Office of Rail Regulation, TXM Plant Ltd, Norfolk Constabulary.

 

We also provide overnight stabling facilities for Special trains such as the Belmond Royal Scotsman or we can make a great destination for charter trains. Full water tanking and servicing facilities are available, although at this time we are unable to empty CET tanks.

The Railway would be keen to help develop Freight flows from the Dereham area by rail and has experience in operating freight services for DB Schenker with MOD traffic to Swanton Morley Barracks.
