Update on the Steam Gala Plans for 2026

We wish to inform you that the Steam Gala originally pencilled in for May 2026 will be postponed, with planning efforts now focused on delivering a major gala event in 2027.

While the Steam Gala is one of the railway’s most anticipated annual events, it has been concluded after careful consideration that the 2026 date no longer allows sufficient time to secure the essential elements required for a high quality, and financially responsible event.

Next Steps

• The railway will continue with its planned programme of running days and events already in the 2026 calendar.

• Work will continue for a future Steam Gala, including planning, agreeing visitor locomotive agreements, and a solid commercial framework.

• Further updates will be shared as the 2027 plan takes shape.
