VISITING THE MID-NORFOLK RAILWAY

Welcome to the Mid-Norfolk Railway!

We run regular trains between Dereham and Wymondham Abbey throughout the year. On our Times & Fares page you can see the event or timetable that is running on a particular day and find out more information.

Tickets will be on sale on the website in the near future, at the moment, we are only opening up bookings gradually as we get nearer the date. We will be offering on the day tickets also, but these will be limited due to capacity constraints. Book in advance wherever possible to avoid disappointment.

On the majority of our trains, we have disabled friendly access. We have a dedicated Disabled Access page of information about this and how to reserve your place.

At Dereham station:

  • Our Ticket Office will be happy to book you on your train on the day or in advance (where possible). We will also be selling tickets online in the near future.

  • We have a Gift Shop with a variety of gifts and items relating to the railway including books, fridge magnets, toys, DVDs, keyrings, badges, etc. There is also a selection of items available on their online gift shop

  • Our Tea Room is open on all running days ready to serve you with hot and cold snacks and drinks where you have the option of either eating in our restored tea room or taking it onto our platform to enjoy the atmosphere or on-board our trains. We also offer regular on-train catering (where staffing allows).

  • Our Museum is open on most running days staffed by a team of knowledgeable volunteers who share the history and story of the railway. They also offer talks where requested and provide activity sheets for children. Further information is available on the Museum and Education page.

At Wymondham Abbey station we have a Ticket Office who will be happy to book you on a train for that day and answer any queries you may have.

At County School station, whilst we do not have any running trains at this time, our Station Master is opening up the station on regular occasions. We also have a miniature railway group that will be opening their railway soon.

Our catering team provides a number of Cream Tea & Afternoon High Tea trains throughout the summer and we also have evening Fish & Chip trains. For 2021, we have an additional Gin Train

We hold a marriage venue licence where you have the option to get married in our station, and/or we can hold a wedding reception at the railway on our trains depending on your needs.

For those who want to live their dream and drive a steam engine or diesel locomotive or unit, we offer driver experiences on a limited number of days throughout the year.

We are open to bookings for private charters/events (birthdays, weddings, celebrations, etc) as well as coach parties. Feel free to explore our Groups page.
